Saffron,
a botanical name “Crocus Sativus”, is the
most precious, expensive and valuable
spice in the world, nowadays more than 70
percent of world Saffron are produced in Iran.
Due to its diverse climate and fertile soil,
Iran's agriculture products are rated among
the best in the world with saffron being no
exception.
The Saffron filaments or threads are actually
from the red dried stigmas of the flower,
"Crocus Sativus Linneaus". Each
flower consisted of only three stigmas, those
threads from each flower must be picked
by hand in autumn when they are fully bloomed,
and it takes more than 25,000 stigmas of these
flowers to produce just 1 kg of Saffron
filaments, it is the reason for Saffron being
expensive and valuable. Certainly Saffron
impresses people by its pleasant color,
distinctive aroma and extraordinary taste
as well.
